UCS A11yAllies is designed to perform accessibility auditing primarily on your device. This policy explains what information remains local and what limited information is transmitted to UCS services for authentication, account management, entitlements and plan usage metering.
A11yAllies requires users to sign in. Authentication is provided through AWS Cognito. Account information required for authentication, such as your email address and authentication credentials, is transmitted securely to the authentication service.
Authentication tokens may also be sent to UCS account services to authenticate requests and retrieve account, plan, entitlement and usage information.
Website content is analyzed in your browser when you explicitly start an accessibility audit. Accessibility findings, page information, project information and related audit data are stored locally on your device.
The audited page content and accessibility findings are not uploaded to UCS servers by this version of A11yAllies. Limited usage information about the audited page is transmitted to UCS account services for plan metering and entitlement management as described below.
To apply the usage limits associated with your plan, A11yAllies records limited information about pages you audit against your signed-in account. This information includes the audited page address, the type of scan performed and a page count.
The page address may include the full URL shown by the browser, including its path, query parameters and fragment. This information is transmitted to UCS account services for account, entitlement and plan-usage management.
This information is used to manage and enforce plan allowances and is not used for advertising or behavioural analytics. The audited page content, accessibility findings, evidence screenshots, EPUB content and generated reports are not uploaded as part of this usage-metering process.
Screenshots captured as accessibility evidence are stored locally on your device.
Screenshots may contain an A11yAllies watermark identifying the account that created the evidence.
Screenshot uploading to UCS-hosted storage is disabled in the current release.
EPUB files selected for auditing are processed locally. EPUB content is not uploaded to UCS servers.
Publication information, accessibility findings and related audit records are stored locally on your device.
Accessibility and EPUB validation reports generated by A11yAllies are created locally on your device.
Generated reports are not automatically uploaded to UCS.
A11yAllies does not upload accessibility findings, evidence screenshots, EPUB content or generated reports to UCS analytics services.
The limited account and usage information described under Plan usage and metering is transmitted to UCS account services for authentication, entitlement management and enforcement of applicable plan limits. It is not used for advertising or behavioural analytics.
Account and plan-usage information is processed as needed to authenticate users, determine available features, manage account entitlements and enforce applicable usage limits.
This information is separate from the accessibility audit content, findings, evidence and reports that remain stored locally as described in this policy.
Projects, accessibility findings, evidence and related audit information are stored locally by A11yAllies.
Removing the extension or clearing browser or extension storage may remove this locally stored information.
Users should export any reports or evidence they need to retain before clearing local data or removing the extension.
UCS does not sell A11yAllies user data.
Audit content, accessibility findings, evidence screenshots, generated reports and EPUB content are not shared with advertisers.
Account and plan-usage information described in this policy is used to operate A11yAllies account, entitlement and usage-limit functionality and is not used for advertising or behavioural analytics.
You control when website and EPUB accessibility audits are started.
Locally stored audit information can be removed by clearing the applicable browser or extension storage or by removing the extension.
Before removing local information, export any reports or evidence you wish to retain.
A future version of A11yAllies may offer optional cloud-based features.
If such functionality is introduced, this Privacy Policy will be updated to describe the information transmitted, its purpose, storage and applicable user controls before those features are made available.
